Gleaned this thru trying to figure out what loudmouthman was talking about on Twitter, followed the trail to this Times story.

What worries me more is the fact that this edict comes not from our democratically elected leaders but from those we don’t elect in Europe. Another reason (if one were needed) to get our asses out of that monstrously bureaucratic superstate if ever there was one.

I mean, we’ve all heard about Joanna Lumley’s campaign, these are people who have risked far more for Britain than the average dole scrounger, yet the government cannot do enough for “social justice”.

And now, via the Big Mac, we have a particularly egregious example of the government taking the piss:

On 15 November, Colour Sergeant Krishnabahadur Dura of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Defence News, part of the Ministry of Defence, said, “He was rated as one of the Army’s best snipers attaining best student on his Snipers’ course. He was highly respected by all.” C. Sgt Dura was killed by a Taliban bomb which injured two male colleagues and one female officer, who lost her leg.

C. Sgt Dura, 36, leaves two daughters and a wife. He had served in the British Army since 1992.

But the purpose of this article is not to recount his years of selfless service, nor to sing the praises of his heroism in Afghanistan. It is to draw attention to the most appallingly callous, bureaucratically pig-headed mindset Machiavelli has so far encountered. Because the Home Office is currently threatening to deport the wife and two little children of C. Sgt Dura.

For fuck’s sake, you cunts: cut these people some slack. They deserve it. You aren’t the fucking SS just yet.

This takes the piss it really does. When you canbe smuggled in in the belly of an artic, claim asylum and have money thrown at you but the family of someone who died serving the aims of this government is threatened with deportation somthing is terribly terribly wrong.

I can’t believe we couldn’t deport abu Hamza but we can deport the wife and children of someone who died fighting his ilk? Is there any fucker in the Home Orifice who even begins to see how t hat isn’t just wrong but an absolute moral inversion?

My contribution to this is to point out that Civil Servants, Politicians and all the tagalongs and lackeys that go with the current administration have no morals, so there is no possibility of them seeing any inversion of them.

We live in a state that rewards criminality and fecklessnes, hands money out to those who breed and do nothing else. Ignores the crimes that are difficult to prevent/prosecute and focuses on those that they can make either money, or leverage from.

We live in an aristocracy of pull, it will not be long before it pulls itself apart.

I’m going to post the following here and now because I think the time is right:

I swear by my life, and the love I have for it, that I will not live for the sake of another man, nor will I allow another to live for mine.

This Video is a pile of tosh and here’s why.

Warning: politics incoming.

I don’t vote (especially in the US as I’m a brit), but I don’t vote for a very good reason. I don’t vote because if I voted it would be tantamount to agreeing to let whoever gets in have a degree of control over my life that no-one should have, apart from me.

I don’t vote because I will not give a politician permission to rule me,

I don’t vote because I don’t believe that anyone is competent to define which choices I am able to make regarding my life but me.

In this so called democracy (both here and over the pond in The States) the rulers (allegedly) only rule with the consent of the ruled. Well I withhold my consent. By not voting.

By voting you agree to give up your freedom to define your own life to someone who doesn’t know you, and probably never will.

By voting you give your tacit permission to those who are elected to do whatever the hell they like for five (four over there) whole years. Who knows what they could do in that time?

By voting you are perpetuating a system which has demonstrated time and again that it does not represent, and may never have represented, the wishes of the people.

By voting you become the enemy. By voting you become not a fellow citizen but an oppressor to be resisted at every opportunity. You would take away my freedom? Deny me the right to live as I choose? Why? What have I ever done to you? I’ve never even met you (well some of you I have, but this is rhetoric, I’m trying to make a point). Don’t worry though, I’m not going to firebomb your house or blow myself up on a train. Because I believe that you are entitled to exactly the same rights of self-determination and freedom that I am and would do nothing to compromise that principle. Unless you were about to physically assault me, my family or my property, then I might have to break your thumbs.

So these celebrities have no right to ask me or anyone else to vote (no matter the country holding the election). They have their lives, their freedom. It is in their interests to perpetuate a system where the rich can buy their freedom and it is not the birthright of every person on the planet. They don’t care about you, your everyday lives, or any of the issues they mention in that video. They don’t care because they don’t have to, they’re rich enough to buy themselves a nice little bubble which insulates them from the big bad world.

If the US had socialized medical care, do you think any of these people would use it? If global warming/climate change/whatever-the-PR-boys-have-said-its-to-be-called-now, really does make the seas rise it just gives them more water to float their boats in, and their hilltop house gets a sea view. They don’t care about the war, they aren’t the ones fighting it.

So here’s my advice to all of you who want to live the American Dream of “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Don’t Vote. And convince others not to vote too, its the only way to guarantee you get any of them.

What section 11 of the Chrome EULA says, basically, is that anything you post to the internet through Chrome; Google has a right to use it, edit it, repackage it, distribute it and genrally fuck about with it as much as they like and don’t have to credit you, pay you, or even acknowledge that it came from you.

For instance, if this post to my blog was made through Chrome, Google would have every right to re-use it, claim they wrote it, edit it to better reflect their interests, and they wouldn’t have to do anything for me in return.

Google has dropped tha ball on this one. Spread the word so that they see the error of their wayward ways and change the EULA.

The minutes of the first meeting (held in Reykjavik, at CCP’s expense) are now on the web. and they make for some interesting reading. Players have been invited to discuss all the issues raised on the EVE forums. I’ll be having a more detailed read of a couple later in the week.

Does he have a degree in pshychology? Is he a game designer? Does he play games? does he even associate with those who commit knife crime? I’m willing to bet that the answer to three of these questions is no. Like it or not playing video games is something that pretty much everyone does, and guess what; not everyone who plays games goes out and stabs people. As he would realise if he lived in the real world and spoke to real people and not the fawning sycophants he has no doubt been surrounded with.

He’s perpetuating the same logical fallacy that many who campaign against gaming do, which is this: People who stab people play video games, therefore the games must make them do it.I could apply the same logic to his profession: He is a popular musician, popular music is associated with drug use and rampant promiscuity, therefore he uses drugs and is rampantly promiscuous. Oh, hang on a minute.

One word describes this argument and Mr. Galagher’s involvement with it and that word is: FAIL.

I used to think Boris Johnson was pretty clever, but this recent proclamation of his has destroyed that notion completely. Gone is the affable and likeable buffon who graced our screens on ‘Have I got News…’ who was the butt of many media jokes, to be replaced by a closet statist of the most despicable order.

He says to the young of London, of which he is mayor, “If you see a fight, don’t get involved, bcause someone may have a knife.” this is the antithesis of what living in a free and civil society means. The argument is often put forward that our society is based on christian values and here we have a prominent politician abjuring us to turn away from these values. Caer for your fellow man is the lynchpin of a free society and now we are being told not to care, to turn a blind eye, and to walk away from injustice and violence when we see it in the street.

More telling is the fact that this statement comes on the same day as an elderly veteran was stabbed and killed* for giving some ne’re do wells a telling off. This is the world we live in, if we want to change it we have to take up arms and fight the degenerate sections of our society with every fiber of our beings. If the streets must run with blood for our freedom and sense of purpose to be returned to us then so be it. The politicians will be first.

* This was mentioned on Radio 4’s Toady Program but I can find no reference to it anywhere else. Suppressed by the mayors office? Maybe I’m just being paranoid.

Handguns are being blamed for alot of things, but the people holding the guns barely seem to get a mention.

A police state is defined as a country where only the police, or other government agencies are armed. How does it feel to be living in such a state?

Would allowing the populace the right to own a handgun really cause more gun crime or would it lead to a lessening of such crime?

Its a complicated issue and one which evoke emotional responses from almost anyone who takes part, but its still a discussion worth having. I for one would buy a gun if allowed and use it in the defence of my family, myself and my property. in that order. Simply because I don’t trust the police or any other agency to do it. What use are a couple of unarmed cops turning up after someone hears a gunshot, or even with the intruder (possibly armed) still on the premises. The only person I trust with the defence of my home and family is me, and going up against a gun or knife toting intruder with nothing in my own hands is a bad deal.

Recent controversy over games such as Manhunt 2 and the Grand Theft Auto series of games has given the nanny brigade yet another baseless fear to cow the masses with. As many parents are still under the impression that games are for kids they are understandably concerned about the content of the games their children play. Thats kind of missing the point though. The point being that adults play games too, and actually make up the majority of the gaming demographic, with the average age of a gamer being around 27 and over 70% of gamers being over 18. I believe that as more and more gamers grow up to become parents, with an understanding of the medium and their own opinions of what they deem acceptabl, a ratings system such as the one proposed becomes unnecessary. Until then non-gaming parents need to be more aware of the medium and accept the fact that its not just for kids.

Games like Manhunt and GTA are just the birth pangs of a new kind of game, designed to cater for a more mature audience. An audience which, like myself at 30, has been playing videogames for the best part of their lives and has grown out of the gaming equivalent of Disney movies and hankers after something more along the lines of Kubrick and Kurasawa. Granted we also like a bit of fairly mindless entertainment, games that are the equivalent of a Michael Bay movie.

The worrying thing about this legislation is that it will serve to stifle a burgeoning art form, and prevent the free expression of game makers. Unlike the US we have no first amendment rights, no indisputable right to freedom of speech. It may be implied by our ‘unwritten constitution’ but all that means is that the government can (and does) deny us that right on a whim. No doubt filmmakers and TV execs will be overjoyed at this turn of events, anything which restricts their competition will be a good thing in their eyes. Personally I feel that traditional media has pushed for just this kind of thing purely on competitive terms. However the internet is the freedom fighter’s friend, I’m sure that any attempt to ban games will be easily subverted by some resourceful bod online, and games available freely elsewhere in the world will be easily downloadable if you know where to look.
