Intriguing - do you think that even Corps which are non-democratic look towards democracy in their Alliances?

@Manasi: I quite agree, the main problem with mobs is that they are only as intelligent as their least intelligent member. Also from my experience of representative democracy in EVE I've found that the only thing that is voted on is who makes the decisions, once they're voted in they run things pretty dictatorially and without much consultation outside those elected few. Govermnemt by comittee as it were.

@Ga'len: some sort of information regarding the internal political systems utilised by the various alliances and corporations would be extremely valuable. I'll be mulling this over for a bit with a view to possibly collating such data at some point in the future. I'm no social/political scientist tho so my methods may not be all that reliable :/

Perhaps some metrics on how alliances govern themselves. That may make answering this question easier and perhaps with more accuracy. Right now, we are just making educated guesses based on our own experiences.

True democracies are nothing more than a MOB. You are quite right that if left to this the MOB would not be able to decide anything. Representative democracy is all that I have played with and enjoy, if you interview the corporation as thoroughly they should interview you, perhaps jumping into a corp and choosing poorly can be avoided. Good post :)
