I’m going to start posting a weekly digest of my activities in EVE, for anyone who’s interested. Here’s the first.
In Game
I managed to shave off a couple of days training time from Gallente Cruisers 5 by training up a couple of the tier 2 learning skills. I know now that these should have been some of the first skills I trained as they can drastically reduce training times later on and get you into those tech 2 and 3 ships that much quicker but I haven’t for a couple of reasons. The first being money, I always found something shiny to spend my ISK on when I had it, and my training history has been very mixed.
I’ve basically gone through the game training whatever took my fancy at the time, hence the reason that it was only a few months ago that I finally trained up Amarr and Gallente Battleships. In my 3 or so years of actual play time I’ve still never flown anything bigger than a battlecruiser, if you can believe that.
So now I’m on my way to Gallente Cruisers 5 and the wide vistas of Recon, Logistics, HACs and eventually Strategic Cruisers.
Before that though I’ll hopefully be running level 4 missions (solo finally) in a brand new Dominix. My first battleship and with any luck one which will grant me the capablity to make even more ISK. I went with the Domi for its drone capacity mainly, and also the fact that I used to run a salvage destroyer for a guy who ran level 4s in one and was very impressed with its tank.
I broke the 100 million mark the night before last with the reward from a storyline mission (a +3 implant which I already had and sold for a cool 8mil) and am now over halfway to buying, fitting and rigging my new battleship.
OOG (Out of Game)
I’m also continuing to collect and collate contributions from other players to my epic mission guide and will be publishing an addendum soon. I’ll be contacting the people who have contributed to this addendum either via email or eve-mail to find out how they want to be credited and if they have a website I can link to. I have a forum thread and various comments on this blog to sift through so it might be a while yet. In the mean time keep your comments, additional information and questions coming.
Another project I’ve got on the go is a comprehensive guide to the Overview and how players of all kinds can make the most of it. This is a big project and may not see the light of day for a couple of weeks due to the amount of work involved. If anyone knows of a legend for all the overview and bracket symbols (the ones for stations, pos components, deployables, NPCs, etc.) drop a link in the comments or mail me in game and let me know. Suggestions for different overview setups are more than welcome as well.
EVE Blog of the Week
This is going to be where I point you at one of the many EVE blogs out there that has most impressed me this week. The mentioned site will get a link in my blogroll and that warm feeling that anyone gets when they know that someone appreciates them, this week’s winner is:
Personal Files, Ciarente Roth – An absorbing and well written in character blog relating the trials and tribulations of one Ciarente Roth. It impressed me so much that I’ve gone back to the very beginning to read the whole story.
Thats it for this weeks floating in space.
Till next time, fly safe and good hunting.
The image at the top of this post was taken in W-Space and depicts a system with a black hole. Black holes increase your speed and agility and are quite mesmerizing to watch
