GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

The trailer is coming. 10 days and counting.
What should we expect from the latest in the series, apart from stunning visuals (if Table Tennis is anything to go by)? Here are some of my hopes… (continued after the jump)
- An online component. I’m not expecting MMO or anything that grand in scale but some form of multiplayer would be a very welcome and overdue feature. GTA has been begging for it since GTAIII. No disrespect to the guys at Multi-Theft Auto but official support for multiplayer mayhem is a must.
- Persistence. If you steal a car, it is not there to be stolen again. If you get busted, you get a record which the police remember. The more you get caught the harder it gets.
- Prison time. You get busted, you spend time in the clink with other unsavory types. This feature could be used to learn new skills, crime related of course, or develope contacts. Then again sharing a cell with a big dude called bubba and being his bitch for a few days could have its drawbacks.
- Greater levels of customisation of vehicles and other such things. Think of the garage options in Midnight Club 3 Dub edtion for instance but applied to everything from hair to clothing and furniture.
- More business opportunities. Allow those of a financial bent to buy up businesses and actually run them, using them for money laundering or other nefarious activities. A life of crime is not a simple one, the game should reflect that.
- Greater gang management options. The territories idea in San Andreas was a good one, build on it. Become a real Mr. Big. sitting in an office and giving orders rather than being a glorified gopher.
These are some things I’d like to see in the new GTA, what about you?
