Lexicon

Words are tricky things, its best to nail them down so that they cannot be misunderstood. To further this end I provide here a lexicon of terms used in dicussions I’ve had and what I understand them to mean;

Real Property : Originally I thought real property to mean anything physical which could be classed as property, I have since been corrected. The general and legal usage of the term denotes immovable property, ie land, or a bulding built on the land. You can’t pick it up and take it with you. Its not the opposite of ephemeral or imaginary property (which don’t exist). (Ref: Wikipedia.)

Personal Property : This is stuff you own which you can move around, from your house keys to a supertanker (preposterous as that seems) these are classed as personal property. (Ref: Wikipedia.)

Intellectual Property : Discussions are ongoing as to what this should mean. The legalities (legitimate or not) are explained here.
